Matthew has practised exclusively as a Family Law barrister for 15 years. He brings a wealth of experience as a practising advocate in England and Australia. He is instructed to conduct multi-day trials and also as junior counsel when being led by King's Counsel or Senior Counsel.

​

Matthew has a very busy practice advising and representing husbands, wives and unmarried partners in the division their assets following separation. He is recognised in the Legal Directories for his work in complex cases. He represents third parties, including companies and parents of spouses, in claims they make in Family Law cases.

Advising international clients and appearing in matters with international features is a large part of Matthew's work.

 

He has extensive experience advising foreign domiciled clients as well as domestic client with international Family Law issues. He has assisted clients and dealt with cases involving legal issues in other jurisdictions, including France, the Republic of Ireland, India, Canada, the UAE, Spain, Italy, Germany, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Sri Lanka, New Zealand and the USA. Matthew advises clients on complex issues involving jurisdiction and forum.​​

Matthew has a significant background in deciding disputes as an Arbitrator of Family Law cases in England and Australia, part-time judge and Sports Judicial Officer.
